Flew another prototype AC75 for the America’s Cup is successfully launched

American team Magic yacht club of new York published the video of the launching prototype foiler AC75. The 11.6-metre test boat AM38, also known as MULE, that’s two times reduced copy of the ship on which the team is going in 2021 to fight for the prize of the 36th America’s Cup in Auckland (New Zealand). The test MULE passed on the basis of American Magic in the Bay of Narragansett near the town of Newport (state of Rhode island, USA). To finalize the boat before releasing a full-sized AC75 team of experts will help Airbus.

The original concept of this model, which co-developed Racing, Bella Mente, Quantum Racing and American Magic, was presented in November last year.

According to the official website of the America’s Cup, the only team that has not tested in one form or another АС75 remain the current owners of the competition Emirates Team New Zealand.

We can only guess whether this is due to a ban on tests of full-size yachts up to 31 March 2019.

The Italians of Luna Rossa hold their own experience for the most part in secret, but the British team INEOS introduced a smaller version of the AC75 named T5 back in the summer. The basis of the T5 — significantly redesigned model of the Quant 28. In particular, the yacht got two T-shaped Foyle and system management. Also to make the Quant is similar to the AC75, we have changed the layout of the deck, the wheel, sailing equipment, and some structural elements.

Now it’s safe to say that the fears of experts who believed that the unusual design of the hydrofoils will not be able to provide AC75 desired lifting force is not justified. Its prototype took off. And hardly something will prevent to take off their older sisters, when they are ready.
