Sunday in the Primorye territory has completed the all-Russian regatta for the Cup of Peter the Great Bay-2019 and a national championship in the yacht class “Konrad 25R”.
This is a beautiful, very complex and, undoubtedly, the most favorite competition in the sailing calendar of the region. Every year the crews train throughout the season, updating the materiel, preparing the boat to spend the summer is sometimes very extreme races and 500 miles of this Japanese sea.
This time the regatta was held from 22 August to 1 September, participation in the race was attended by more than 300 sailors and a 42 yacht. And they had again and again to fight with the vagaries of the local weather.
In 10 days all participants passed the 7 races: 4 short (3-4 hours) and 3 long lasting for 1.5 days or more. The programme was drafted very tightly, participants completed one race, slept in after a sleepless night and in the morning started in the following polutoratonny the race. This time Maritime weather showed itself in all its glory: heavy rains lasting a day, thunderstorms with lightning, gushing into the water, exhausting the calm, strong currents and shifting wind – the impressions the participants had for the year ahead to come and with new forces to fight in the regatta next year.
In the Russian championship in “Konrad 25 R” from the first short race was a bitter struggle for the main Cup. A long-standing dispute between Vladivostok and Nakhodka crews, equally well acquainted with the treacherous and unpredictable waters of the Gulf of Peter the Great, this year culminated in the victory of the crew from Vladivostok boat “Foxtrot” with captain Igor Soloveychik. The fight for first place went to the last meters of the last race – the gap in points was minimal. The three leaders, but “Foxtrot” was kept Nakhodka “Poet” and winner of last years “Artist”, but eventually snatched a victory from the team of yachtsmen from Vladivostok yacht club “Seven feet”, and the crew worked two soloveitchik’s father Igor and son Roman.
We still can not realize their victory. For years, we went to her and, finally, the Cup is ours. Taxiing in turn, has varied. In all the races we had announced a large crew, we went different squads, but all was neat and tuned for maximum results. Probably a reasonable expenditure of force members of the team and eventually became the main factor of victory, – said Igor and Roman Soloveichik.
The winners tell us that this year, as never before, it was very difficult to compete with rivals: the level of all teams has grown significantly, and any yacht from the top ten could easily go in the top.
Second place was won by “the Poet” with him Pojedinim and third – Dmitry Khodyrev and his “Artist”. In the other test groups this year did not happen special revelation.
Special the challenge Cup is the “Blue ribbon of the sea of Japan” has got 50-foot yacht Peregrine Falcone as the fastest yacht in total faster than anyone held all race. This year she has spent on an approximate 500 miles 63 hours 55 minutes 33 seconds absolute time.
We initially set a goal to get the Cup for the fastest boat. Opponents sought to challenge our leadership, but in the end, we were faster than everyone, despite the weather forecast, which greatly influenced the results in all classes, says tactics Peregrine Falcone glib brunt.
Indeed, accurate forecasts for the next race no source was given. In the race “Gamov Cape” with a length of about 100 miles, there were two possible scenarios for the weather: moderate or heavy wind. In the end, came true both of the forecast: in the area of Cape Gamov yacht was in a severe squall with a deafening thunderstorm and heavy rain, according to measurements from the different yachts, the wind reached 15 to 25 meters per second. And when the storm subsided, came the absolute calm, and the yacht without wind drifted half a day.
However, according to participants, it is precisely this unpredictability and attracts them to the Cup of Peter the Great Bay in Vladivostok from year to year. Mikhail Chekalin from Novorossiysk, a member of the crew of the yacht “tuning Fork”, says that each year involved in the main regatta of the Far East.
For every Peter the great Bay Cup I’m here. Regatta this year is very difficult, on the one hand. On the other hand, it was interesting because it allowed to test themselves. It had everything: heat, sun, then rain, thunderstorms with squalls, but in the end none of the fleet is not broken, all showed what they are capable of. I got an incredible charge of emotions, – said the participant of the competition.
This year, the most experienced became the speaker of the priests, the captain of the yacht “Master” from Vladivostok, who turned 78 years old. And the youngest participant was a 14 –year-old Julia Kuzubova, a member of the crew of the “boomerang”.
Special gifts were also awarded to the only female crew of the yacht “boomerang” captain Darya Ishchenko and others.
