ERA OF TRUST
As we already reported, the next issue of Yacht Russia No. 5-6 (128) went on sale. We bring to your attention the comment of Vasily Senatorov, published in this issue of the journal under the heading "From the publisher".
The main trouble of our time is the lack of trust. The lies of politicians, media fakes, the lies of marketers … The authorities do not believe their subjects, the people – the rulers, those – their colleagues.
But how it all began! Disappointed in fairy tales about the coming communism and equality, our people ceased to trust the party and the system of Soviet power. Believing bourgeois ideologists, he rejected the planned economy, removed the Communist Party from power and resolutely began to build a market economy. However, the fast-onset wild capitalism made him doubt its justice …
The idle talk about equal opportunities was quickly realized, because instead of taking off the economy, they received theft and impoverishment of a significant part of the population.
And only one quality of life acquired over the years of modern history reconciled the majority with reality. This is freedom. The freedom to travel around the planet, and not just through Leninist places in Ulyanovsk and Shushensky. The creation of the EU and the Schengen zone made a single clearing for movement on land and water. Escapism, generated by economic realities, carried out a coup d'etat, spawning squadrons of free sailors and charter charter fleets.
And suddenly all this fun round dance of regattas, travels and vacations was cut off at full gallop by some strange virus. The first reaction was to compare the replica "Yes, full of you, gentlemen!" But it turned out that gentlemen are not joking.
Flights arose, Schengen agreements were suspended, the European Union itself was very sick from the virus of national egoism. The fright was so strong that at first the seafarers refused to let in even quarantine. Then took pity. But the result is deplorable: yachts at the joke, the whole industry is on fire, sports are banned.
To put it mildly, this did not add confidence to the authorities. Moreover, most thinking people see obvious mistakes made by their bosses who frantically jerked the throttle stick of the state machine from “full forward” to “full back”. Moreover, it is obvious that those of the rulers who did not immediately believe in the seriousness of the pandemic are inclined to extend the quarantine longer in order to make people forget their oversight.
However, the market. And then all the countries of Southern Europe are jealously looking at their neighbors: who is the first to dare to give “green light” to tourism again? After all, it is obvious that he will collect the cream in the form of holidaymakers brutalized from the home regime.
Futurologists, meanwhile, are harvesting their crops. The assertions that "the world will not be the same." Adherents of digital economies, IT specialists, blacksmiths of artificial intelligence were especially livened up. (Although in reality they could not even quickly deploy reliable electronic control systems! And thank God, because these are dual-use technologies.) The stupid belief that scientific progress will make the world kinder, fairer and safer, I hope, will be shaken. Because reality proves the opposite: scientific progress has always been and will be used by the authorities for the arms race and to strengthen the position of its beneficiaries. Global robotics will make the already nearly 8 billion people of the planet redundant. I’m even afraid to develop the thought of where this will lead.
So futurists should not be trusted. But, as Leonid Bronevoy said in the role of Mueller: "No one can be trusted, but I can." Therefore, it is possible and necessary to believe colleagues, colleagues, and, in our case, experienced sailors who have proven the strength of their skills. That is, not to those who try to convince with speeches and promises, but to those who prove their competence by real deeds. The virus has become another watershed. The choice is yours. A man cannot live without faith.
