Champion interviews the champion

When the famous sailing journalist Shirley Robertson interviews is a guarantee that it will be interesting. Because Mrs Robertson is not just a journalist. She is Olympic champion (Sydney 2000, the class of Europe, and Athens 2004, class “Yuengling”) and in 2000 was recognized as the best in the world yachtswoman.

More recently, Robertson opened in the Network category monthly Sailing Podcast, and the first person she did an interview, was Australian Nathan Outteridge, one of the most outstanding sailors of the last decade. All of his titles will not list, only some (still get a long list!). Outteridge – the Olympic champion of London 2012 in the 49er class silver medallist and Rio 2016, multiple winner of world Championships in the 49er and Moth classes, helmsman and skipper of the Swedish Artrmis Racing in the two Cup “America”, and now at the head of the Japanese team the lead in the series SailGP.

Wow record! It is clear that Shirley Robertson in such a companion was something to talk about. And here are some statements of Outteridge:

– I was lucky that followa revolution began just at the time when I picked up strength. When I was 22, there was a Moth class and quickly became popular. So, we have developed together.

I had to chase a Moth for four or five years, and then polovye catamarans appeared in the America’s Cup. Again, thanks paulam: thanks to them I began to participate in races that are the pinnacle of sailing!

– Totally unexpected for me from the three big teams of the America’s Cup have expressed interest in my services. I was still in seventh heaven after winning the Olympics in 2012 and thought it’s cool!” And in the end chose Artemis.

– I will gladly spend a few hours in the open sea, but not going to ask me to spend the night on the yacht. The thought of getting out to sea for a few days, everything in me turns. It would be great if a helicopter I threw on a yacht in the southern ocean, but four hours later had to take me back. Because I love to sleep at home!”

Those who want to listen to an interview with Outteridge completely, here is the address in the Network
