Blair and Tuke lost the lead!
In Australian Geelong, where the world championships in Olympic classes 49er, 49erFX and Nacra17 are in full swing, the first final races took place today.
In the 49er mini-sensation: one-hundred-percent (even two-hundred-percent) favorites Peter Burling and Blair Tuke from New Zealand after four final races dropped from first position to second. True, they concede to Benjamin Bildstein and David Hussl (Austria) only one point: 27 for the Austrians, 28 for the New Zealanders.
In 49erFX (three final races), the crews occupying the first two places share two points. Charlotte Dobson / Saskia Tidey (Great Britain) – 17 points, Tamara Echegoyen / Paula Berselo (Spain) – 19. The rest are far behind.
Finally, in Nacra17, brother and sister burst forth ahead, Nathan and Haley Outterwich – 37 points. The British John Gimson / Anna Burnett are 11 points behind them.
P.S. Russian yachtsmen in the championship, which takes place in Geelong, do not participate.
