Bark "Europe" has returned home
Today in the early morning, the Dutch bark "Europe" with an international crew of 19 people moored in the home port of Scheveningen. A non-stop sailing trip from Ushuaia with a length of 81 days and more than 10,000 nautical miles has been completed.
No one could have guessed in advance that “Europe” would have such a long voyage, but this was the case. Bark was in Ushuaia (Argentina) when the coronavirus pandemic broke out and countries began to close themselves from the outside world one after another. It was then that the captain of the Dutch barge Eric Kesteloo decided that the ship would go home – from south to north, across the entire Atlantic – without calling at the ports.
Ongi went to sea on March 27. Forever behind!
