In early August, 2020 on the lake will be held the fourth international sailing regatta Sailing Week Baikal 2020.
It is noteworthy that in this unique area of Russia is the only regatta in which can participate all interested persons.
The organizers aim is to make Baikal available for yachting and to give the opportunity to get acquainted with the most picturesque and emblematic places of this great lake.
This year the Baikal sailing week will be held on a new route, conceived as belomorskogo expedition along the coast. From Sakhyurta village, located in the Strait of Olkhon gate, boats will pass along the Western shore of Olkhon, cross the Northern part of the Small sea (part of Baikal lake between the shoreline and the island of Olkhon island) and come back to the village of Sakhyurta along the inland part of the lake.
Size Small sea about 70 km in length and from 5 to 16 km wide. This is a great area for races with dozens of Islands and beautiful bays, where are situated the resting places of the West coast.
The program includes a visit of the Buryat Holy places: the Cape of Burkhan and stupa of Enlightenment, a free day in the “capital” of Olkhon island – the famous village of Khuzhir, acquaintance with national cuisine and traditions of the Baikal region.
For three years the Baikal sailing week has already attracted more than 150 participants from Russia, Tajikistan, Belarus, Germany, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, USA. Nobody remained indifferent to the beauty of the lake and drive the sailing races!
