In the English Harbor Bay on Antigua (who does not know, this is a paradise island in the Caribbean), the world championship in the class "Optimist" started.
257 athletes from 11 to 15 years old who represent 65 countries take part in the regatta (which, by the way, is a record of world championships among optimists). Russia is represented by 5 young yachtsmen.
On July 8, the participants, divided into four fleets, conducted 2 races each. According to their results, Richard Schulteys (Malta) is the leader – the only one among all participants of the championship who managed to win twice.
The results of the Russian guys so far (I want to believe that it is – so far) are far from ideal. Here are the places they were:
142. Fedor Krivobokov – 70 points, parishes – 32 – 38;
171. Artem Maksimkin – 83, parishes 43 – 40;
178. Maxim Bondar – 85, parishes of STP30 – 55;
181. Ivan Zhilkin – 85, parishes 38 – 47;
211. Danila Ivanov – 98, parishes 47 – 51.
