In the regatta attended 257 athletes from 11 to 15 years representing 65 countries (which, incidentally, is a record of the world Championships in optimistion). Russia was represented by 5 of young sailors.
July 8, the participants, divided into four fleets, had 2 races. According to their results, leading Richard Shultes (Malta) of all participants of the championship who managed to win twice.
