“Yachtsman of the year” vol. 2: families, adventurers and sea wolves

Magazine Yacht Russia has awarded the winners of its premium version

The ceremony of the second “alternative” award “yachtsman of the year” by the magazine Yacht Russia ceremoniously passed the evening of 29 November in the Moscow theatre “Russian song”.

Although unlike similar awards of the all-Russian yachting Federation (ryf) or PROyachting during the celebration Yacht from Russia is not awarded to the best photographers-marine painters, in anticipation of the start of the ceremony, guests could admire the exhibition “the Aristocrats of the seas” from the Naval photographic collection. The public has seen these images of Russian big sailing ships “Kruzenshtern”, “Nadezhda”, “Pallada”, “World”, “Hersonissos” and “Sedov”, for example, in February of this year, during the festival “Pristine nature” in the Central house of the artist. But let’s be honest: even if you look at these pictures is not the first time, they are still impossible to look away.

This year the prize celebrates two anniversaries at once. First, if you do not take into account the division of a single “Yachtsman of the year” in 2017 in two separate awards because of the conflict of the WFTU and the Yacht Russia, in 2018, the prize is awarded for the tenth time. Second, in 2018, the 300th anniversary of creating the world’s first yacht club — “Hereditary Nevsky fleet” or “fleet of the Neva” was established in 1718 by Peter the great. It is considered that it was then in Russia began sailing.

the idea of the rich heritage and continuity of a sailing tradition in Russia became the leitmotif of this award.

In the scenario award went to the album of Sergey Borisov “300 years. The history of sailing of Russia”, published with the support of Yacht Russia. The event was opened by an excursion into the history of the creation of “Neva fleet”. Before each nomination prize first virtual was given to any of the famous Russian explorers of the past centuries. And after — their descendants of the twenty-first century.

One of the first reward in the shape of a boat was Tatyana Zhuravleva, coach of Moscow in Windsurfing, the mentor is the bronze medalist of the youth Olympic games in 2018 Yana Reznikova and bronze medalist of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 Stephanie Eluting.

“A huge thank you to my athletes for their tremendous work. You guys are the best! Love you! And yet, the parents of my athletes. If not for you, we definitely couldn’t have done it!” — said from the scene Zhuravleva.

The award Tatiana Zhuravleva presented the honored USSR master of sport, world champion, Europe, USSR and Russia Georgy Shayduko, who this week will travel to the Bahamasto represent our country at the prestigious Star Sailors League.

“Coach — a good coach — it’s for life. Today, here in the hall, sitting my first coach Esaulov Nikolai. We walked from the age of ten. Honored man — brought up a huge galaxy of riders. I believe that without a coach, no victory” — concluded Shayduko.

Where is the best trainer there is and best sailing school. The award in this category went to the sports school on sailing “Krestovskiy Ostrov” (St. Petersburg), created just a year ago. But the tenacity and enthusiasm of the pupils of the school are the envy of many. It’s no joke — at competitions of various level, they have already gained 55 gold, 54 silver and 38 bronze medals. More than 20 athletes from the “Krestovsky island” are part of the Olympic team.

From training to competition. And competitions, of course, is impossible without judges.

“The judicial work is probably one of the most difficult. You’re always a target: your solution is always for someone plus, for someone a minus. You always “blame” either for one side or the other. You need tremendous courage to be a judge,” said head of school “Krestovsky island” and a former head coach of the Olympic team of Russia on sailing Natalia Fedorovaappeared on the scene to announce the name of the judge.

The jury awarded the prize honored coach and honored master of sports of the Russian Federation Sergey Kuzovovwho for the second season in a row was a judge for more than 30 regattas. Award for Kuzovova has been a long time — he has four times been nominated for “Judge of the year”.

“The officiating crew is not one person. I Express my gratitude to everyone who worked with me this year, including fellow nominees. Thank you very much!” — said Body.

The other nominee was a member of the Committee of the racing rules and appeals ryf, member of the Subcommittee match racing and test-instructor videoconferencing ryf Veniamin Gusevand the Secretary of the largest all-Russian competitions in various types of sail racing Svetlana Mansurova.

The other side of the competition — their media coverage. A journalist who in 2018 coped with it better, was Alex Fat — the Director for public relations of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg, creating videos and programs on sailing channel “Match!”.

The prize “For contribution to the development of sailing” has received Andrey Kislov — the person who gave the development of the sail 70 (!) years of my life! He first became interested in this sport in 1948 when he was only 12 years old. Over the years he became a four-time winner of the national Championships, he was Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the FPS of the USSR in the years 1963-1989, and a member and Vice-President of the International sailing Union in the years 1976-1990. Just a few days ago, on November 26, he was 82 years old.

“I first saw him in 1974. For me it was God, which makes regattas, directs the sail. Then he carried the flag at the Olympics because he is one of those who was organized, of “dragging”. I tip my hat to his power and spirit before the work which he puts in the sails,” said about the winner of the Olympic champion in 1980 in the class of “Star” Alexander Muzychenko, who presented the award on stage.

“I’m worried: at this age, you give me such an award — “For contribution to the development of sailing”. I would like to repeat: in the development of sailing, not in its destruction. We experienced different periods. The time was such: to throw stones. And now we see on this magnificent holiday, what time has turned, and it is time to gather stones”, — said Kislov.

He also thanked all who helped him in his work for life.

“Of course, without their friends, colleagues, coaches, and of course, I wouldn’t be able to do it all. The prize you decide to give me, it is definitely, in part, those colleagues, those friends, those people who have supported me in life. This is your prize” — added Kislov.

The next one this evening honored on the stage of “Russian song”, was the best organizer of the competition.

“The organizers of the competition gets the heavy bread at any regatta. Athletes will get their fun from racing — that’s for sure. The judges will get another category and a worthy reward for their work. But the organizer is not known to anyone”, — said the President of the FPS in Moscow region, member of the Presidium of the WFTU and the master of sports of the international class Valery Pilchin before the name of the winner.

The award came on the scene Andrew Poltanov. Created in 2002 regatta with a change of crews on the “Rays” “Who is Who” today is the most popular and affordable such event in Russia. Every year, the regatta is held in new regions of the country, popularizing sailing even where it is insufficient or not developed.

Another true veteran of sailing, whose merits noted by the jury of the “Yachtsman of the year” became the winner in the nomination “For loyalty to the sail” — Rostislav Alexandrovich novoderezhkin. In 1957, he won the USSR championship in class “M”, in 1965 — “the flying Dutchman”, in the same class repeatedly won competitions and participated in international regattas in England, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, USA. In the class “Carter 30” 11 times won the Cup “Onega”, three times — Aegean regatta (with transitions Moscow — Athens and back), also won “the Cup of Baltic” and “Black sea Cup”.

Unfortunately, the 80-year-old Rostislav Alexandrovich was unable to attend the ceremony. Instead, he got up on stage his sons and grandson, who, incidentally, also love sailing. For example, in 2018, the father and the son Andrew and Dmitry Novoderezhkin participated in the world championship “flying Dutchman” took the first place in the standings.

“Of course, in the age,” can you think about the winner. But there it was!

This year he participated in the regatta “the flying Dutchman” in Moscow and won it, and the ceremony couldn’t come because, according to the sons, “the works on the yacht did not allow him”!

Next to go on stage came the turn of the winners in the nomination “the Best distant sports campaign”.

“Can you imagine what the nominees! Some (Yacht Rusarc Aurora, approx. ed.) is now somewhere in Antarctica, the second (Travely-Family couple Klochkovaapprox. ed.) with kids in the Pacific ocean. About “Akela” do not say — they were nominated for this award even when Elena Vladimirovnoj (wife, approx. ed) got it in 2014 after returning from around the world”, — said Andrey Nevzorov, who came on stage to declare the winner.

The winners were in the hall. They were captain-coach “Akela” Alexey chegurov and his loyal senior assistant Anastasia Podobed, under whose leadership annually for many years, pass practice cadets of the University of sea and river fleet named after Admiral S. O. Makarov. The crew regularly participates in European regattas, and often wins prizes.

Finally, it was time for the main awards of the award “Yachtsman of the year, Yachtsmen of the year” and “Sailing team of the year”.

10 anniversary award went to the team “Russian knights” — the winning in 2018, the 600-mile race Rolex Middle Sea Race in the class crews-twos Rutovu Igor and Vyacheslav Martynov. At full strength the team also won bronze at the world championship in the Melges 20 class.

“For the second year running Igor Rytov becomes a prize winner and is unable to because of the most respectful: he is once again at the races, far away, the ocean. If Igor will continue to be so successful, I’m afraid we have to move the date of the award. Well, the place: where he will be chasing” joke leading.

The award went to the scene the friend and ally of the “Heroes” — Oleg Gusev.

“The team is not only shoesnot and tactics, it is also something more subtle psychic organization, delicate tinctures. In 2013, Igor was fortunate enough to meet with the guys: Contantino (by Rasputinymapprox. ed) and Anton (Sergeev, approx. ed). And this year, this month celebrates the fifth anniversary mini anniversary,” — said Gusev.

The yachtswoman of the year admitted a student of the “Coach of the year” Tatiana Zhuravleva — Jan resnikoff.

“I would like to thank the organizers of this award. For me it’s a great motivation. And a great opportunity to change the suit to something more elegant!” — laughed the girl, getting up on stage.

It’s funny that the silhouette of her dress still vaguely resembled a light wetsuit with short sleeves and trousers.

“A big thank you to my coach: “coach of the year” Tatyana Zhuravleva and Boris Minaev. And, of course, I want to say a huge thank you to my mother. Though there is no such category, but I think she is worthy of the title “mother of the year”,” continued Reznikova seriously.

Last on stage was to climb the winner of the “yachtsman of the year”. Intrigue was added by the fact that two of the three nominees for the award were father and son: Vladimir and Daniil Krutskikh.

“Vova, lost son! Give a place on the podium!” — joked the friends of Vladimir, while the organizers talked about the nominees.

But the jury was not in accordance with them. The double world champion Finn-masters Vladimir Krutskikh still out for a well-deserved award. In 2018, he won the first European championship in this class.

“I want to share this award with my son. I believe he is also worthy of it. Thanks to him, I have tops, which I have not yet reached. I hope we’ll achieve them with him. Maybe we can race together on the same yacht may compete in different ways,” said cruit.

When all the heroes of the night received their awards, it was time for a celebratory champagne, appetizers, socializing, and, of course, music. And all that awaited the guests of the award in the lobby of the theater. Orchestra, Touche!
