Third of all participants in the transatlantic race Route du Rhum in Pointe-à-Pitre Guadeloupe last night finished with 43-year-old Frenchman armel tripon the the tri-Chocolat Reaute.
He lost only two of his compatriots, representatives of the division Ultime – Francis Guiana (Maxi-trimaran IDEC Sport) and françois Gabaret (Macif). The Tripon was represented by a different class – Multi 50. The distance of 3542 nautical miles Chocolat Reaute it overcame 11 days, 7 hours, 32 minutes and 40 seconds. In order to set a new record division, Tripon lacked only two hours.
Fourth – just a few hours – to come to Pointe-a-Pitre have a famous Briton Alex Thomson: today at 12.00 Moscow time on his yacht HUGO BOSS (Imoca 60) to the finish line exactly 25 nautical miles.
But then, as they say, variants are possible. Because last night, already off the coast of Guadeloupe, HUGO BOSS bumped into rocks. According to preliminary data, damaged bow, bowsprit, one of the foil and the keel, but how seriously is the question. Some time after the incident (in order to get off the rocks, the skipper had to use the engine and drop the sails) HUGO BOSS was at less two nodes, but then accelerated and quite confidently to the finish.
The international jury, the race has already announced that it intends to appeal the results of Thomson, as he used the engine.
