Russian Pioneer shipyard Motor Yachts (Moscow) presented the project of a 41-metre expedition yacht on the basis of the national marine dive boat through the ice. A decommissioned ship that served in the Navy, can be comfortable yacht with excellent sea keeping qualities for long travel and leisure.
The idea is to rebuild the former scientific and military vessels into a first class yacht is not new. It is, if not a trend, then certainly the practice developed in a separate direction in the world boatbuilding industry. Shipyard purchase the projects developed by naval architects and successfully served a term in the scientific or military fleets, and recycle them to the needs of the new – civil – of the customer. The most striking example of recent years – the Voyager project – a large-scale refit 63-meter vessel support in the 91-metre Explorer yacht, which holds the American shipyard, Gulf coast Shipyards.
At Pioneer Motor Yachts decided to keep up with global yacht builders and offer project super yacht Antares 41m on the basis of the Soviet naval dive boat ice class 535М “Crab”. The ship was developed in the 1960-ies for the needs of the Soviet Navy and is designed to work under water and rescue operations. In 1972-1986 Soviet shipyard launched no less than 16 of these bots, many of which are only now retiring from the army in the Baltic and the Black sea.
As they say engineers Pioneer Motor Yachts, 535М “Crab” a good silhouette, layout and seaworthiness. Decommissioned the ship remains the only process for travel and leisure on the water. The external changes are not so great: increase in the superstructure and aft and is shifted to the pipe that will allow you to release the deck and to improve the layout. But the interior will be completely rebuilt, will be only the engine room and the wheelhouse, there will be cabins and salons. After refita the ship will be a comfortable yacht, able to make long Autonomous navigation in remote parts of the world.
