American helmsman Luke Lawrence and Shkotovo from Russia Alexey Selivanov won at the end in Miami for the first Junior (under 30 years) the world championship in the class “Star”. Greetings from Yacht Russia!
Recall that before the last racing day of the us-Russian crew was third, trailing the leaders by three points. All had to decide the last two races.
The first Lawrence and Selivanov came second, and final, long before the finish line, managed to get around several of the boat and secured his overall victory. In total they have 19 points (with one outlier), parishes 1 – 2 – (12) – 8 -2 – 6.
“It was a wonderful day, – said Luke Lawrence after the ceremony. We worked together and got this to work great fun!”
Silver medals also won the international crew – consisting of American Thomas Hornos and Brazilian Pedro the Trush (winner of the finals Star Sailors League in 2018!) – 22 points, parishes 7 – 1 – (7) – 5 – 7 – 2.
And finally, on the third place Robert Irish and Peter O’leary – 26 points, parishes 3 – 4 – (16) – 12 – 6 – 1.
Recall that in the first Junior (under 30 years) the world championship in the class “Star” was attended by 36 crews.
