The real battle sailing training over the weekend, the participants of the two-day regatta Cup “Jung”. Young sailors together with their mentors went the distance Vladivostok – Sidimi Bay, where they were met by a serious squall with strong wind, rain and hail.
The race is on “boys Cup” held in Vladivostok already the 19th time in a row. The order of carrying out of races presupposes the existence of a crew of young sailors and experienced skipper. The priority in the management of the yacht is given yungam. As a rule, the regatta is held on the yacht of a class “Konrad 25 R”, and this year it was decided not to change tradition.
As told by the main judge of a regatta Constantine Pies, the main objective of the regatta is the acquisition by pupils of yacht clubs management experience “adult” yacht. Recommendation prescribed in the sailing instructions, it was assumed that at least 70% of the distance, the young participants will be required to operate a boat independently. “Boys Cup” – the only regatta in Russia, which is held in a similar format.
This year the racing Committee proposed to change the distance. Instead Bay the Governor acting on Russian finish of the first race was taken in the Bay of Huck on the Yankovsky Peninsula near the village Bezverhovo. As in previous years, the regatta consisted of two races: from Vladivostok to the Bay of Huck on the Peninsula Jankowski, second race – back to Vladivostok. The one end of the 18.2 nautical miles.
In “boys Cup” was attended by children from 9 to 18 years, studying sailing in the yacht club “Seven feet”, “Navigator”. At the start there were 14 yachts.
The forecast promised a good racing wind, but not promised squally winds with heavy rainfall. All participants had to mobilize and prepare for an emergency. Thanks to the elders in sailing and skilled yacht management, and materiel, and the children themselves have successfully overcome the natural trial and finished.
On arrival in the Bay of Huck the regatta participants stayed overnight at the recreation center “Sidimi”.
The next morning was the start of the second race, from the Bay of Huck. On this day the wind was enough, but not extreme, and boats safely crossed the finish line on the pier of the yacht club “Seven feet”.
The winners were identified according to the results of the two races.
1st place – yacht “Impulse”, captain Eugene Belyshev, yacht-club “Navigator, Moscow state University”;
2nd place – yacht “Foxtrot”, captain Igor soloveitchik, yacht club “Seven feet”;
3rd place – boat tuning Fork”, captain Sergei Silkin, yacht club “Seven feet”.
