Airbus will inspire AC75 to the American team for the America’s Cup

The engineers at Airbus will help the team of the yacht club of new York American Magic to design a 75 metre single hull of foiler to participate in the America’s Cup, which will be held in Auckland in 2021.

“Expertise and specialists from Airbus is vital to our stellar design team aimed for victory in the Cup. We work together most of the 2018 and otherwise awesome our cooperation will not name. Together we will take forward the technology used in sailing, win the most important trophy in our sport and encourage boaters here at home and around the world,” says Terry Hutchinson (Terry Hutchinson), skipper and Executive Director of the American Magic.

In 2013 and 2017 Airbus helped to develop the cruise catamaran of team Oracle. The team was able to defend the title holder of the Cup in 2013, but in 2017 and lost the prestigious trophy in New Zealand. About the experience of cooperation between Oracle Team USA and Airbus, we are told in detail in a separate article. Note that this cooperation was mutually beneficial: for example, working with Oracle has allowed to improve the design of the tip of the wing of the A350 and to develop new equipment that is now widely used in aircraft.
